Can an Indonesian company get an EORI without an EU entity?

Yes. A non-EU business registers with the member state where it first lodges a declaration. You usually need an indirect customs representative in the EU, so filings go through vetted licensed partners.

Do I need my own EORI if my EU buyer is the importer of record?

Usually not. Under FOB, CIF or CFR terms your buyer clears under their own EORI. You need one for DDP deliveries, stock in an EU warehouse or transit filings.

Which member state should I apply to?

The one where you first lodge a declaration, in practice your main port of entry. One EORI works across all 27 member states, so the fastest sensible route usually wins.

Is an EORI needed before an EUDR Due Diligence Statement?

Yes. The DDS in TRACES NT references the operator's EORI. EUDR applies from 30 December 2026 for large and medium operators and 30 June 2027 for micro and small enterprises.

Who needs the EORI: your buyer or you?

In most Indonesian export deals the EU buyer needs it. That changes when you take on EU customs obligations.

Your EU buyer needs it

FOB, CIF or CFR sale: The buyer imports under their own EORI
EUDR commodities: The operator filing the DDS, usually the importer

Your company needs it

DDP sale: Own non-EU EORI plus an indirect customs representative
Stock in an EU warehouse: EORI plus VAT arrangements via a fiscal representative
Entry summary or transit filings: Whoever is the declaring party

One EORI is valid across all 27 member states. A GB EORI is a separate system and does not work in the EU.

The EORI vocabulary

Every customs declaration lodged in the EU references an EORI number. No EORI, no clearance.

EORI

Economic Operators Registration and Identification number, required by EU customs.

GB EORI

The UK's separate post-Brexit number. Not valid in the EU.

DDP

Delivered duty paid. You become the party clearing EU customs.

Indirect representative

An EU-established customs representative, generally needed by non-EU operators.

The EU system where the EUDR Due Diligence Statement is filed.

DDS

Due Diligence Statement. Carries the operator's EORI, HS code and plot geolocation.
