EU border terms, decoded

Most Indonesian containers enter through Rotterdam, Hamburg or Antwerp. Each runs documentary, identity and physical checks.

01

CHED-PP

Pre-notification in TRACES for plant-origin cargo, filed by your EU importer.

02

BCP

Border control post where plant-origin cargo must be presented.

03

TRACES NT

The EU system for CHED entries and the EUDR Due Diligence Statement.

04

EORI

The importer's customs number, verifiable in the Commission's public database.

05

REX

Statement on origin used to claim EU GSP preference.

06

ISPM 15

The heat-treatment stamp required on every wooden pallet.

The file an EU-bound shipment needs

For plant-origin goods. Miss one and the container waits; miss two and the importer starts asking questions.

Office binders, a calculator and a notebook on a desk

What stops the box, and the fix

Demurrage commonly runs EUR 100-200 per container per day once free time lapses (typical carrier tariffs, 2026).

What the border officer sees

Data mismatch
Weights, HS codes or consignees differ across documents
Defective phyto
Wrong botanical name, missing treatment, or issued after loading
No CHED-PP
Cargo reaches the border control post with no TRACES entry
EORI missing
The import declaration cannot be lodged
COO errors
HS code or origin criterion conflicts with the invoice
No DDS reference
In-scope commodity declared without a DDS number

Fix before sailing

Data mismatch
Reconcile BL, invoice and packing list line by line
Defective phyto
Book inspection early; check every field against the goods
No CHED-PP
Confirm in writing the importer files it a day before arrival
EORI missing
Validate the buyer's EORI in the Commission's open database
COO errors
Align the COO with the final invoice; re-issue through e-SKA
No DDS reference
File the DDS in TRACES NT; quote the reference on the declaration

Final decisions rest with EU authorities. No consultant can guarantee a clearance outcome.
